Why toilet humor is so powerful?

For as much as we’d like to imagine the toilet as a separate “elsewhere,” every flush seems to send waste into some unseen void. But we’re learning there is no such place—each flush connects us directly back to the broader world around us.

This magazine uses humor to explore self-expression in bathroom graffiti and uncover the gender dynamics in public restroom design. Why does toilet humor persist across generations? What do graffiti reveal about society's hidden psyche? By examining these questions, I delve into the unseen culture of toilet spaces and challenge the idea of their unchanging nature.

Font Experiment
I explored typography inspired by various styles of toilet graffiti, initially creating a set of graffiti-style fonts. To make the design more dynamic and expressive, I incorporating a wider range of graffiti styles.

By combining different typographic elements, I developed a set of fonts that capture the varied, spontaneous, and layered nature of graffiti culture.
